Job Description

Education:

  • Completion of Master's Degree in Geographic Information Management (GIS) or a related field.  
  • Experience: 
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience. A proven track record of leading information management processes including those related to GIS in a development or humanitarian setting;
  • Experience of management, coordination and liaison with disaster affected communities, Government agencies, relief organizations, donors and the other stakeholders; 
  • Experience of working with national and/or international humanitarian organizations. 

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali is essential;
  • Comprehension of other languages used in Nepal (such as Hindi, Maithili and Bhojpuri) is desirable.   

Other:

  • Nuanced understanding of the humanitarian principles and of other humanitarian norms; 
  • Understanding of the disaster response architecture and approaches in Nepal e.g. the role of Ministry of Home Affairs, the Nepal Red Cross Society, the Initial Rapid Assessment tool, the Cluster system, the HCT, the Emergency Response Preparedness process;
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering high quality and analytical reports on time.
