Programme  -  DFID-funded opportunity in Nepal on Women’s Economic Empowerment

5.5 years – full-time assignment

Location - Nepal

Expected Mobilisation – April 2017

 

The Programme

DFID has launched its Sabalaa Programme (meaning Powerful Woman) in Nepal to support the economic empowerment of women and girls. It is a 5.5 year programme that will focus on the poorest women and girls and will drive structural & transformative change by focusing on developing solutions to overcome barriers that prevent them from engaging freely and productively in the economy. 

Oxfam is bidding as part of an international consortium of partners and we are in the process of putting together a strong team of experts in a number of related disciplines (outlined below). We are looking for talented and experienced individuals who might be interested in a role under this programme to put themselves forward by submitting their CV (in the Oxfam format please – see attached) latest by 30 September 2016, together with a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience and reasons for applying.       

 

 Deputy Team Leader

The DTL will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the programme and team, and should have strong project management experience (systems, processes, keeping the team on track).  S/he would have solid understanding of development and WEE issues, and be well connected to gov’t, private sector and CSOs (if they are national candidates). 

  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in working on donor programmes, ideally at least 2 years with DFID
  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing large scale or complex development programmes
  • Strong understanding and commitment to WEE and ideally would have a gender and social inclusion background
  • Previous experience working and building strong relationship with key stakeholders including private sector, government and civil society
  • Understanding and experience of working in WEE, community development, institutional and policy reform and private sector development
  • Strong project management experience and attention to detail
