Job Description

Under the overall supervision of the Emergency Information Technology Office, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manage and maintain the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems to ensure that Network Operating System Support database, documents, shared resources and other data files are working properly in Country Office and Sub Offices
  • Provide hardware and software trouble shooting support to all offices and staff
  • Receive, test and install Servers, Desktops, Laptops and other IT Equipment
  • Maintain all operating system, e-mail system, Microsoft Office Applications and anti-virus, ensure compliance with registration and updates
  • Maintain systems and equipment by carrying out routine tasks and minor required repairs, such as backing up data, monitoring network and systems, servers and peripherals, running system diagnostics, and system optimization, removing viruses, spam, etc;
  • Manage WFP Corporate Asset Management Database (AMD/GEMS) to make sure that all items are properly labelled and recorded in Country Office and in Sub Offices.
  • Liaise with Sub Offices AMD/GEMS focal point to conduct physical check on regular basis
  • Maintain the level of ICT hardware stocks for daily operations as well as for potential emergency operations
  • Manage the installation, operations and maintenance of PABX telephone system in all offices;
  • Maintain and update the telephone extension list on regular basis and telephone billing system;
  • Liaise with vendors/suppliers for ICT hardware;
  • Prepare payment request for any ICT services, monthly billings, frequency licensing, etc.
  • Assist to ensure compliance with corporate IT policies, standards, guidelines and procedures;
  • Collaborate with others units, as required
  • Perform any other duty as required

General Requirements:

Education: Secondary school education including or supplemented by courses related to the area of work.

Experience: At least four years of progressively responsible job related experience in information technology or telecommunications or information management, such as, WAN/LAN networking, operating systems, databases, telephone services, radio unit, web design, registry or similar. Some experience in client support, such as, a Help Desk or User Support Unit, web design team, telephone maintenance service, e-marketing group, hotline, or similar.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Nepali and English.

Desirable Skills: Experience working in an international organization or multicultural environment. Postsecondary school studies in an institute specialized in information technology or telecommunications or information management or ITIL training. Good knowledge in web programming and GIS is an advantage.
