Job Description

Under the overall supervision of the Emergency of Information and Technology Office, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Provide, installation and maintenance of electrical services for emergency operations, be it installation or supervision of installation; 
  • Carry out works to WFP standards for all electricity services, including wiring and sizing standards and maintenance services; 
  • Carry out the installation and maintenance of the electricity wiring and distribution systems for all WFP offices and warehouses in any WFP operation as required, ensuring a safe and reliable working environment according to the WFP electrical standards; 
  • Carry out electrical, IT and Telecomms/Radio cabling to cover all services active in the Country Office and Sub Offices;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and IT outages.
  • Coordinate with any required external contracting, servicing or intervention needed for any electrical installation; 
  • Provide written requests for materials and keep detailed reports on storage and usage of these materials; 
  • Perform other related duties as required. 

General Requirements:

Education: Satisfactory completion of secondary school education, plus qualified in electricity. Official certification as domestic or semi-industrial electrician preferred. ICT qualifications preferred.

Experience: At least three years of progressively responsible progressively responsible and proven effective, hands-on electrical or electronics experience. 

Knowledge: IT and Telecomms skills including cabling, LAN and Telephony, and knowledge of common basic software packages. Knowledge of commonly used office equipment.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Nepali and English.

Desirable Skills: Experience working in an international organization or multicultural environment. Preferably hands-on experience in deploying, troubleshooting and maintaining single and three phase generators, diesel or petrol fuelled, in the range from 2 KVA to 250 KVA; knowledge and experience in the maintaining and troubleshooting the mechanical part of generators is a plus. Hands-on experience in deploying, troubleshooting and maintaining UPS and voltage regulator systems ranging from 0.5 to 60 KVA. Certification for Wilson generators desirable.
