URGENT STAFFING NEEDS FOR WORLD VISION NEPAL RESPONSE:

Our Global Relief Response team, together with our WV Nepal staff, are responding to meet the needs of children and their families hit hard by the devastating earthquake.  We are looking for replacements for nine key roles to take over their work on a longer term basis.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

World Vision is responding with relief efforts after a deadly 7.8 earthquake struck Kathmandu and surrounding areas in Nepal on April 25, 2015.

According to government reports, the quake killed thousands of people and that number is expected to rise. Thousands more were injured and left homeless by the massive earthquake across three other countries - China, Bangladesh and India - in the region.

World Vision has been operating in Nepal since 1982 by providing health-care, relief response to natural disasters, and long-term development work. We are currently seeking professionals to join our global humanitarian response in Nepal, who are passionate about protecting lives, restoring dignity and renewing hope, especially among children affected by conflict and natural disaster.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Infrastructure Manager will be responsible for all construction aspects of the reconstruction intervention. The manager will provide advice and guidance to the Programme Director in development of a greater programme on commitments to government and partners.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Experience in managing large-scale multi-disciplined projects across a large geographical area.

Experience working for a large main contractor, Engineering, Architectural or Project Management organisation, especially one that has been involved in Greenfields development, international aid projects, and community related construction works.

Experience in community related projects and a clear understanding of the importance of community input to the design and implementation of community based projects.

Experience in team building and development and staff placement management according to skills.

Ability to develop relationships with target communities and supervise team inputs to community participation.

Ability to engender interagency relationships and cooperation, particularly with NGOs working in the same disaster situation.
