Job Description

Key Responsibilities: The Health Manager will provide leadership in designing and managing WVIN's national portfolio of health and nutrition related programming, to help ensure achievement of the organisational targets for health and nutrition, including to decrease by 15% the number of underweight children among WVIN programming areas before 2020.The role provides national technical oversight learning and continuity across all health projects as well as from sponsorship, grants and other non-sponsorship funding sources. This role will be required to travel regularly to WVIN's projects in various parts of the country (up to 30%).

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and competencies required for the position: A Masters degree in a Health and Nutrition related field from recognised university with at least 5 years of field experience in health programming or equivalent in the headquarters of a major NGO (5-10 years preferred) having worked in a leadership role for at least 3 years (matrix management experience is highly preferred); Good knowledge on the latest development thinking on health programming, including a strong emphasis on nutrition, maternal child health, hygiene, sanitation, water; Should have better understanding of empowerment approaches involving community-led activities and advocacy; Basic understanding of program cycle including project planning, design, monitoring, evaluation; Experience in developing grant technical project proposals; Must have experience and skills in data analysis, research work and community based programming; Proven experience in developing and delivering programming strategy development, including evidence of achieving programming targets; Experience of engaging international donors and Government Staff on advocacy; Understanding and experience in working with international government donors or corporate for funding of projects; Should have experience of partnering with private business, faith-based organisation or academic institutions to achieve greater impact on the lives of children; Excellent oral and written English & Nepali; Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including use of Microsoft Office; Ready to take initiatives and willing to work under pressure and exhibit a high level of flexibility; Hold a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently; Strategic, creative, and innovative thinking with decision making and problem solving skills; Good understanding of humanitarian Sector; Committed to World Vision Core Values and Mission Statement.
