Job Description

World Vision International Nepal (WVIN), an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice, is looking for potential Nepalese candidates to fill out the following positions:

Position: Advocacy Manager (One) - based in National Office, Lalitpur

Key Responsibilities:

The advocacy Manager will lead WVIN’s advocacy initiatives to contribute to achievement of Country Strategy priority, development objectives by creating conducive environment for effective implementation of development and humanitarian projects. S/he will be responsible to establish linkages and relationship with local and national level advocacy for policy influence on rights of children. Liaising, capacity building, mobilization, social accountability and effective implementation of advocacy initiatives from local to national level will be the major scope of work. S/he will also be responsible to lead the effective implementation of global and national campaign and popular mobilizations including “It takes world to end violence against children”.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:

Master’s degree in social science, development studies or in any relevant field with at least 7 years’ experience in development sector in Nepal. Strong research and analytical skills with substantial experience on evidence-based advocacy is preferred. Sound knowledge on policy context, social accountability, good facilitation, negotiation and stakeholder  management skills are essential. Should be able to build PNGOs capacity to develop their institutional capacity for local, provincial and federal level advocacy. S/he should be able to provide strategic leadership to WV’s advocacy and campaign across Nepal.

Core competencies: Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Nepali with demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including use of Microsoft Office tools and design software. Should have influencing and coaching skills (ability to work with influence at different levels in the organisation), facilitation and presentation skills is essential and ability to work independently and as an active team player. S/he should be self-motivated and have a high level of integrity and honesty, willing to work under pressure; be creative and innovative with decision making and problem solving.
