URGENT STAFFING NEEDS FOR WORLD VISION NEPAL RESPONSE:
Our Global Relief Response team, together with our WV Nepal staff, are responding to meet the needs of children and their families hit hard by the devastating earthquake. We are looking for replacements for nine key roles to take over their work on a longer term basis.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
World Vision is responding with relief efforts after a deadly 7.8 earthquake struck Kathmandu and surrounding areas in Nepal on April 25, 2015.
According to government reports, the quake killed thousands of people and that number is expected to rise. Thousands more were injured and left homeless by the massive earthquake across three other countries - China, Bangladesh and India - in the region.
World Vision has been operating in Nepal since 1982 by providing health-care, relief response to natural disasters, and long-term development work. We are currently seeking professionals to join our global humanitarian response in Nepal, who are passionate about protecting lives, restoring dignity and renewing hope, especially among children affected by conflict and natural disaster.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
The Operations Manager leads the Response Operations Team, providing direction, oversight and coordination to ensure that all programmes are implemented to achieve desired results while adhering to humanitarian standards, processes and budgets.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Masters level or related qualification preferred in Social Science or related fields.
5 years of relief experience.
Experience in managing diverse programme funds.
Experience in leading diverse teams in complex environments. Good written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in written and oral English.
Experience in establishing good relationships with other stakeholders.
Proven ability to prioritise work, set objectives and meet project budget and timelines.
