Job Description

World Vision International Nepal (WVIN), an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice, is looking for potential Nepalese candidates to fill out the following position:

Position: National Specialist- Infrastructure (One) - based in National Office, Lalitpur

Key Responsibilities: The role will be required to plan, roll-out and oversee implementation of the infrastructure construction program across WVIN area programs, contributing to WVIN's overall strategic objectives. Establish and implement operational and programming protocols to ensure all infrastructure activities (including WASH facilities) to meet minimum engineering standards. The role will also monitor infrastructure components of all WVIN programmes, provide advice and technical engineering oversight to operational managers to ensure infrastructure components meet minimum standards and achieve engineering certifications.The role will closely work with government bodies & like-minded organizations and advocate to ensure that relevant policies & guidance documents are in place and effectively implemented.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies required: A Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management from recognized university (Master's degree preferred) with at least 3 years field experience in managing large-scale multi-disciplined infrastructure and construction projects across a large geographical area; Demonstrated experience in developing and executing a strategy and work plan and implementing on target on time; Should have technical knowledge of engineering, construction, infrastructure building and contract management; Must have technical knowledge in disaster risk reduction for education, including intimate knowledge of the School Safety Framework; Ability to effectively present technical concepts to lay users in various settings and by various means (verbal and written); Proven experience in small to medium level project management and the ability to lead teams;Ability to train non-technical users in the use of technical systems in a cross-cultural setting; Basic understanding of program cycle including project planning, design, monitoring, evaluation; Demonstrated high level networking, partnership and coordination ability; Experience in managing implementation of projects, especially having infrastructure components; Experience in working for a large Main Contractor managing multiple sites; Experience on building and managing relationships with international donors and Government line agencies; Experience in designing and implementing Community-based infrastructure in rural areas of Nepal; Experience in designing grant projects and securing instructional grant funding for Infrastructure; Experience in building collaborative project partnering with private business, faith-based organization, INGOs or academic institutions; The role will be required to travel up to 40% field visit in remote districts. Excellent oral and written English & Nepali to develop grant proposals and reports capturing results, evidence, good practice and learning; Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including use of Microsoft Office; Ready to take initiatives and willing to work under pressure and exhibit a high level of flexibility; Hold a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently; Strategic, creative, and innovative thinking with decision making and problem solving skills; Good understanding of humanitarian Sector.
