Job Description

The International Organization for Migration is seeking qualified Nepali Nationals for the following position based in Kathmandu.

Position Title:               Project Assistant - 1 position

Classification:              SAI, 3 months with possibility of extension, ungraded (equivalent to Grade –4)

General functions:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the successful candidate will assist in implementing various tasks to be undertaken by the “Trafficking Survivors and Vulnerable Children support programme” in Nepal.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:.

  1. Assist in conducting trainings and providing various economic empowerment opportunities to survivors of trafficking. This includes regular follow up of the survivors, extending mentoring support, financial tracking and settlement of invoices, establishing microenterprises in coordination with partner NGOs.
  2. Assist in the preparation and undertaking of an assessment of children living in street and in other vulnerable situation. This includes arranging meetings with government entities and other key CT partners, taking notes and interpreting during the meetings as needed and assisting primary data collection in the field.
  3. Assist in drafting project narrative and evaluation reports.
  4. Assist in designing and carrying out CT prevention campaigns.
  5. Undertake translation of relevant documents, including IEC materials and other documents.
  6. Assist in the proposal and report writing and the preparation of other documents as needed.
  7. Undertake duty travels as required.
  8. Such other duties as may be assigned by the Project Coordinator and IOM Kathmandu.
  9. Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Sub-Office or Kathmandu.

General Requirements:

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Secondary education is required. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Law or Social Work or other related field will be an advantage
  • Writing skills and experience of producing reports, and drafting official letters.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in UN agencies/IOM and/or international/national NGO and/or government programme.
  • Experience of working with survivors of TIP, GBV and/or other vulnerable groups desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to the field sites.
