Job Description

International Organization for Migration (IOM) is looking for suitable candidate for the position of Field Work/Messenger according to the Terms of Reference below. Interested applicants are invited to apply by 20.02.2020 at the latest, referring to the Call for CV reference code.

Position Title: Field Work/Messenger (03 Positions)

Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal

Estimated Starting Date: As soon as possible

Type of Appointment: Consultant Contract, 6 months

 

Context:

IOM Nepal in coordination with National Tuberculosis (TB) Center (NTC) has been implementing the TB REACH project to cater the TB services for aspiring migrants who are screened for TB from private pre-departure health assessment centres. IOM Nepal is seeking three qualified candidates preferably working in migration sector to provide support to the project to work as a messenger to carry out field activities in line with the project process indicators. Individual candidates selected for these field work will be responsible establish a linkage between pre-departure health assessment centers to National TB Program (NTP). The specific activities will be to transfer clients with abnormal TB screening findings on daily basis to sputum collection sites, transport sputum specimens to NTP's diagnostic centers, collect the results, and maintain daily logs.

 

Objectives: The overall objective of this consultancy is to support IOM to conduct field activities as planned in the project.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Scope of Work:

Provide support in carrying out field level activities of the project in coordination with various stakeholders and target groups. Specific tasks are as described below.

  • Provide assistance to transfer clients with abnormal Chest X-Ray images for sputum collection; Establish a sputum courier mechanism on daily basis from the sputum collection to National TB Program diagnostic centers;
  • Maintain a daily log of the results of sputum smear and GeneXpert results, and submit the daily record to the project team;
  • Provide assistance to deliver consumables to project sites in coordination among the project sites and project team;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the IOM team.

Job Specification

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • Secondary Education from an accredited institution with one year of experience

Experience

  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Abilities to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Valid two wheeler driving license is mandatory

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Nepali is required.
