Job Description

The International Organization for Migration is seeking qualified Nepali Nationals for the following position based in Gorkha.

Position Title:               IT Assistant – 1 Position

Classification:              SAI, 3 months with possibility of extension, ungraded (equivalent to Grade – 4)

General Functions:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Nepal Earthquake Response Manager and under the direct supervision of the Head of Hub Office Gorkha, the incumbent is responsible for assisting of the maintenance, support and implementation of the IT infrastructure.
 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide onsite end- user support to IOM team.
  2. Assist in the monitoring and administration of LAN, Internet connectivity and equipment.
  3. Support in the maintenance of present and upcoming ITC equipment.
  4. Implement configuration of desktops and laptops for IT Services such as Internet, access to network resources, email and others.
  5. Install, configure and upgrade hardware and software for desktops and laptops (Windows, MS Office, Antivirus and in house produced software).
  6. Virus detection, removal and prevention for all systems.
  7. Responsible for record keeping and overall tracking of ITC Equipments.
  8. Assist in the implementation and management of a centralized data backup system.
  9. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

General Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Secondary education in computer science or a combination of relevant educational and professional experience.
  • A minimum 2-3 years of experience in networking environment (LAN/WAN).
  • Experience in Windows Server software in a multi-site environment, TCP/IP, MS Office, Antivirus Software, Backup Server software and IT utilities.
  • Experience in Microsoft SQL databases administration will be an advantage.
  • Excellent in problem solving skills and love technical challenges with hand on experiences.
  • Knowledge of IP, VPN, VOIP and LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of .NET framework (ASP, VB), SQL and CMS will be an advantage.
