Job Description

International Organization for Migration (IOM) is looking for suitable candidate for the position of Driver according to the Terms of Reference below. Interested applicants are invited to apply by 10.02.2020 at the latest, referring to the Call for CV reference code.

Position Title: Driver (01 Position)

Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal

Estimated Starting Date: As soon as possible

Classification: Ungraded (UG)

Type of Appointment: Special Short Term Contract, 6 months with possibility of extension

 

General Function: Under the overall supervision of the National Procurement Logistics & Government Liaison Officer and direct supervision of Common Services Assistant, the Driver is responsible for providing driving/messenger support of IOM vehicles. In particular, he/she will:

  • Drive IOM vehicle(s) and transport authorized personnel, refugees, and others as requested by the supervisor.
  • Responsible for the day to day maintenance of the assigned vehicle: oil check, water, batter, brakes, tires, etc., within the capacity of the Motor Pool.
  • Ensure that IOM vehicle(s) are used only for official/authorized business as advised by the supervisor.
  • Filling in of the daily log sheet for travel including mileage, fuel consumption, destinations, and passengers in English
  • Keep a HIGH degree of confidentiality and discreteness in discussions which involve IOM and its officials.
  • Ensure that the steps required by the local rules and regulations (pertaining to driving) are taken in case of involvement in an accident
  • Compliance with security practices and radio checks as it pertains to the UNDSS security plans for Nepal.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.

Job Specification

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Secondary education from an accredited institution with two years of relevant work experience is required.

Experience

  • Work experience as a Driver for large organizations and/or companies.
  • Valid 4 wheelers driving license

Languages

Fluency in English, Nepali is required.
