Information Management Assistant-1(pos)

The International Organization for Migration is seeking qualified Nepali Nationals for the following positions based in Charikot.

 

General functions:

In response to the major humanitarian crisis caused by an earthquake in Nepal, IOM is mobilizing staff from different professions, to assist the people and authorities of affected areas.

Position Title:  Information Management Assistant - 1 position

Classification: SAI, 3 months with possibility of extension, ungraded (equivalent to Grade – 4)

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:.

1.      Support the Information Manager in information gathering and coordinating information collection processes including monitoring and analyzing of project implementation, specifically at increasing their effectiveness.

2.      Manage the Contact lists at the National/Hub level.

3.      Support National/Hub level Unit Activities as required, particularly with Analysis of information.

4.      Provide technical support for analysis of data as well as visualization for presentation to the clusters (such as handouts, gap analysis, power point presentation) and reporting to cluster partners as required.

5.      Regularly inform Information Manager in Kathmandu on activities, project status, and provide regular support as requested and agreed to by the Information Manager

6.      Work towards the achievement of the Mission’s goals in the Districts of operation through effective lateral relations and teamwork

7.      Establish contact with appropriate partner agencies when basic or special needs are identified.

8.      Liaise with OCHA at the national level and participate in IM Network meetings as required.

9.      Manage the update of national level information in the Mission website if required.

10.    Coordinate information management requests with the information management teams in the hub offices working on the same projects,

11.    Capacity Building - Coaching and training of organisations and the IM team in the hubs as required on best practice for Information Management.

12.    Provide support for needs assessment and analysis, ensuring beneficiary participation including adequate attention given to the needs and challenges by gender and of vulnerable groups.

14.    Any other duties that might be assigned.

 

General Requirements:

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  1. Secondary School or Diploma in Engineering, Geography, IT, Computer Science, or any other relevant field.
  2. Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  3. Experience in information management, preferably in natural disaster situations.
  4. Minimum one year of experience in GIS and mapping.
  5. Experience with International Organizations, INGO is an advantage.
