Position Title: Consultant – Training and Capacity Development

Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal

Estimated Starting Date: As soon as possible

Type of Appointment: Consultant Contract, 3 months

 

Context:

IOM Nepal in coordination with National TB Center has been implementing the TB REACH project to cater the TB services for aspiring migrants who are screened for tuberculosis from private pre-departure health assessment centres. IOM Nepal is seeking qualified professionals to provide overall support in implementation of TB REACH project especially to take the responsibility of training and capacity development related activities in coordination with the IOM, National Tuberculosis Center, Department of Foreign Employment and various other stakeholders directly related to the project. In addition, the consultant will assist the research team to carry out pre-and post-test, knowledge management, attitude and practice questionnaire -- introduce and collect information, drafting case stories and qualitative studies in line with proposed project indicators.

 

Objectives:

To support IOM in conducting training and capacity development activities of the project, knowledge management and reporting in line with proposed project indicators.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Scope of Work:

Provide technical as well as administrative support to implement trainings and knowledge management related activities of TB REACH project in coordination with the target agencies.

Specific tasks are as described below:

  • Provide overall support to coordinate in conducting training activities in coordination with stakeholders;
  • Monitor and keep track of every training and knowledge management related activities;
  • Provide support in conducting pre-and post-test following each trainings/capacity development activities;
  • Prepare final report of training and capacity development related activities of the project. The consultant will work in close collaboration and coordination with the IOM Project team by 30 June 2020.

 

Job Specification

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Demography, Statistics, Social Science or any other relevant disciplines from an accredited institution relevant professional experience; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in above field with three years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Proven experience in executing training and capacity development activities
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Experience working with governmental institutions
  • Confident use of statistical analysis software and social research methods
  • Good understanding of migration situations in Nepal and the sub-region (desirable)
  • Proven experience in gender analysis/mainstreaming
  • Abilities to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, writing, editing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of tuberculosis and public health research would be an added value

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Nepali is required.
