Job Description

Position Title: Field Work/TB Screener (03 Positions)

Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal

Estimated Starting Date: As soon as possible

Type of Appointment: Consultant Contract, 6 months

 

Context:

IOM Nepal in coordination with National Tuberculosis (TB) Center (NTC) has been implementing the TB REACH project to cater the TB services for aspiring migrants who are screened for TB from private pre-departure health assessment centres. IOM Nepal is seeking three qualified female candidates preferably working in migration sector or returnee female migrants to provide support to the project to conduct field activities. Individual candidates selected for these field work will be responsible to conduct symptomatic screening among aspiring migrants with abnormal chest x-ray results, coordinate with messenger for sputum collection. They will also be responsible to carry out TB screening among their female migrant communities and link with TB care and prevention as per need Objectives: The overall objective of this assignment is to support in conducting field activities of the TB REACH project.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Scope of Work:

Provide assistance to IOM team to carry out day to day field activities of the project: to conduct symptoms screening, to keep record and coordinate with the messengers for sputum collection. Additionally, support in conducting periodic TB screening among female migrants network in coordination with project team. Specific tasks are as described below.

  • Provide support to carry out day to day field activities as assigned by the project team;
  • Conduct symptom screening among those aspiring migrants with abnormal Chest Xray images; Make a log of prospective migrants screened for TB and coordinate with messenger for sputum collection;
  • Provide support in conducting periodic TB screening among returnee migrants and female migrants in coordination with female migrant communities/network, maintain a log, and refer positive screening cases for sputum collection and testing to selected NTP diagnostic centers. 

Job Specification

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Secondary Education from an accredited institution with one year of experience

Experience:

  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Abilities to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Nepali is required.
