Job Description

Vacancy Notice No: VN#NP/102/15 Position Title: Emergency TB Team Leader- 1 position

Classification: SAI, 3 months with possibility of extension, ungraded (equivalent to Grade – NO A)

 

Purpose of the post: The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the Emergency TB Project (intensifying active TB case detection and treatment) activities among Internally Displaced Population in earthquake affected areas.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Develop and maintain close working relationship with National TB Programme (NTP) officials at district, regional and national level as well as with other individuals and organizations working in Tuberculosis;

2) Plan, organise and conduct chest camps in IDP sites in collaboration with local partner organization and NTP officials;

3) Monitor screening and specimen collection process to be implemented by partner organization and provide timely feedback;

4) Ensure that sputum specimens are tested in a timely manner;

5) Examine, treat and make appropriate referral of TB suspects in the chest camps; 6) Supervise the project team in the implementation of project intervention and activities and ensure that Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is followed properly;

7) Ensure that all relevant project data is collected;

8) Participate in data analysis and share the findings with the team, donors and stakeholders;

9) Manage human resource and provide guidance and training to new staff;

10) Assist in the development of instructions, guidelines, SOPs and policy recommendations;

11) Ensure that project reports are prepared in a timely manner;

12) Involve in the development of new projects;

13) Support project coordinator in various aspects of management.

 

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

a) University degree in Medicine and valid licence to practice Medicine in Nepal

b) Medical Graduate with Public Health Degree is desirable

b) Minimum two years of experience in related field

c) Prior experience in Emergency or TB Programme will be an asset

d) Demonstrated ability in dealing with people of various backgrounds, ages, etc.; respect for diversity

e) Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds

f) Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

g) Excellent oral and written communication skills in Nepali and English
