Position: Biostatistics and Demography

Background

HERD International is a dynamic national organization, established to promote evidence informed policies and practices for sustainable development in health, environment and social sectors to improve quality of life. Guided by its core principles of Efficiency, Execution, and Empowerment, the organization works closely with local, provincial, national, and international stakeholders. To strengthen evidence generation and data-driven decision-making in health and social sectors, HERD International seeks to enhance analytical capacity in biostatistics and demography. Accurate statistical analysis, demographic projections, and interpretation of data are essential to guide policy, program planning, and evaluation. To support these objectives, HERD International seeks to engage a part-time consultant in Biostatistics and Demography to provide technical expertise in statistical design, data analysis, quality assurance, and capacity building.

Key Responsibilities:

The part-time consultant will perform the following key tasks:

  • Provide statistical support for study design, sampling, and data analysis.
  • Develop and validate analytical plans, models, and demographic projections.
  • Provide technical oversight of data quality assurance and interpretation of statistical outputs.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and prepare technical reports, technical brief and visualisations.
  • Support capacity building on statistical software and analytical methods.

Job Specification

Qualification, competencies and experience:

The consultant should possess following:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Public Health, or a related field; a PhD is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in statistical analysis, demographic research, or data management in health and social sectors.
  • Experience in developing and validating statistical models, conducting data quality assurance, and interpreting complex datasets
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
