Job Description

Position: Senior HR Coordinator-Safeguarding

The purpose of this role is to ensure Safeguarding (of both children and adults) policies are institutionalized in SCI and among partner organizations throughout our technical program and operational work. This includes ensuring total compliance with the policy by all Save the Children staff, partners and representatives. The position holder is responsible to establish and maintain Safeguarding systems, quality standards, and practices within the organization (SCI- CO) and partner-led programmings. 

The position holder will be responsible to orient on safeguarding frameworks, undertake to safeguard risk assessment under each project, conduct integrated safeguarding assessment, build the capacity of the safeguarding focal person in the field offices and in partner offices. The incumbent will combine elements of capacity building and monitoring whilst enforcing compliance and accountability, management, and aspects of advocacy. S/he will be responsible to focus and drive on Safeguarding endeavors during humanitarian and developmental contexts.

It includes capturing, sharing, and evaluating lessons learned on Safeguarding, gathering evidence and data on Safeguarding issues to strengthen programming and advocacy. The position holder will also be involved in conducting Safeguarding investigations. S/he will be responsible to build the capacity of the SCI staff and partner organizations in conducting Safeguarding investigation, conduct Safeguarding Audits, and also provide management response on Safeguarding Audits conducted by internal and external auditors. S/he will represent SCI – Country Office in relevant national networks and working groups.

The role may be required to lead global Safeguarding initiatives implemented in the Country Office. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile, including travel to humanitarian settings as a part of the response or investigation, and work under varying working hours in response to humanitarian needs. Masters’ degree in a related field (Preferably in Law or Human Rights) with 5 years of experience (3 years for GSI group*) in a relevant field will be preferred.
