Job Description

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

Communications, branding and visibility:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Country Office’s communications, branding, and marketing strategy.
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight on donor branding and visibility compliance, ensuring all relevant staff are trained and compliant.
  • Oversee the collection, writing, review, and dissemination of high-quality stories, case studies, and other materials tailored to diverse audiences and platforms.
  • Support communications focal points in field offices and maintain story trackers to maximize and strategically position Save the Children’s work.
  • Collaborate with program teams, MEAL, and communications teams to produce quarterly newsletters, annual report, one-pagers, and briefsfor fundraising, advocacy, and external engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Awards team to ensure timely submission of project-based case studies and stories in line with donor reporting timelines, while maintaining high standards of writing quality.
  • Work with thematic advisors and project managers to understand project impacts and emerging areas of work, using strategic communications to build thought leadership.
  • Support the PDQI Director in developing fundraising toolkits for donors and stakeholders.
  • Ensure Save the Children Nepal’s social media channels are aligned with the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) and promote coherent, child-centered storytelling.
  • Conduct training sessions on communications for development for staff and partners.
  • Guide field-based communications focal points to organize and facilitate Communities of Practice (CoP) on child-focused storytelling and communications.
  • Engage with and mobilize media to spotlight child rights issues through strategic outreach, op-eds, press releases, and targeted media engagement.
  • Oversee the Senior Communications Coordinator, conduct regular branding and visibility pulse checks, and provide reputation insights through media and social media monitoring.
  • In humanitarian contexts, guide the Senior Communications Coordinator in developing and implementing Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) activities.
  • Ensure consistent messaging, field test of information, education, and communications (IEC) materials, and branding on PSA, or any public facing communications and awareness materials, in close coordination with technical advisors, and relevant colleagues. 

Job Specification

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL:  

  • Master’s Degree journalism, Media, Communications, or a relevant field 
  • At least 7 years of working experience in relevant field, including at least 4 years of experience leading high-performing communications and campaigns teams in I/NGOs or the private sector.
  • Strong written and spoken proficiency in English and Nepali.
  • Demonstrated experience in child-led campaign design, communications strategy, and influence-building actions.
  • In-depth understanding of donor branding and visibility requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Nepal’s media landscape and strategic media engagement.
  • Knowledge in media collaboration, and private sector partnerships to strengthen communications and campaigns efforts. 
  • Excellent skills on project management, including managing budgets     
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills
  • Good supportive supervision skills, developing self and others
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results, engage in effective and collaborative problem solving and decision making, and foster program innovations and adaptations 

Desirable:

Advanced knowledge about Child Rights and participation context in Nepal with strong networks with government line agencies, civil society networks, I/NGOs and media at national level.
