WASH Coordinator based in Gorkha and Dhading, Nepal

DCA is implementing a DFID funded consortium project – “Rapid Community WASH Recovery Project in Dhading and Gorkha District. The project seeks to support local and national government recovery plans to build back better and more resilient and equitable water schemes and WASH infrastructure. The project will ultimately increase access to water; reduce the risk of WASH-related diseases; improve quality of life and increase the availability of information on water sources and other related WASH components in the target VDCs.This is 10 months projects and subject to approval. DCA invites applications from qualified and competent candidates for the positoon of WASH Coordinator ( 2 numbers) . The positions will be for 10 months with possibility of extension depending on funding.
Key Responsibilities:
S/he will be mainly responsible for taking lead for WASH activities in respective district and will be responsible to support local government recovery plan to build back better and more resilient and equitable water schemes and WASH infrastructure. In addition, responsible for the coordination, networking, and provide technical support to partners, and other stakeholders including government authorities and when required.
Required qualifications and competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 3-5 years of relevant work experience in drinking water scheme design and implementation. Should have excellent understanding in relevant areas, excellent knowledge to design and implement community-based gravity flow drinking water supply schemes ( for both rural and urban sectors) and have knowledge of all the structural components of drinking water schemes. In addition, knowledge to design micro and small irrigation community-based scheme and understanding of low cost and environment --friendly infrastructure design. Have good experience of conflict management at community level. The person should have excellent coordination and networking skills. Fluency in spoken and written English and Nepali is essential. The positions will be based in Gorkha and Dhading.
