DanChurchAid (DCA) is a faith-based, non-missionary organization. We work for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities and believe in life before death. DCA is implementing a DFID funded consortium project – “Rapid Community WASH Recovery Project in Dhading and Gorkha District. The project seeks to support local and national government recovery plans to build back better and more resilient and equitable water schemes and WASH infrastructure. The project will ultimately increase access to water; reduce the risk of WASH related diseases; improve quality of life and increase the availability of information on water sources and other related WASH components in the target VDCs.This is 10 months projects and subject to approval. DCA invites applications from qualified and competent candidates for the positon of Project Manager. The positions will be for 10 months with possibility of extension depending on funding.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a senior level position, who is responsible to lead the Rapid Community WASH Recovery Project on behalf of DCA including management, implementation, coordination, liaison, and networking. S/He will work closely with other consortium partners and ensure that all of the compliances related to project is met. In addition, s/he would be responsible to ensure the DCA’s partners are actively supported, and monitoring, reporting has been done and activities are carried out in a transparent and accountable manner. In addition, s/he would be responsible for coordination, networking and liaison with government and other stakeholders as well as maintain close work relation with other members of DCA’s recovery programme . The Project Manager will be based in Kathmandu with frequent travel to field sites in Gorkha, and Dhading.
Required qualifications and competencies:
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Development studies, environmental sciences, Disaster Risk Reduction, (Engineering background accompanied by an MBA is preferable) with 5-7 years of relevant work experience in humanitarian response and/or disaster risk management. The candidate should be highly dynamic and able to deliver immediately. The candidate should have excellent understanding of the social, economic, humanitarian, political situations and programmatic issues of Nepal mainly in the project districts. S/he should have excellent knowledge and skills on project management, partnership management, and team mobilization Fluency in spoken and written English and Nepali is a must.
