DanChurchAid (DCA) is a faith-based, non-missionary organization. We work for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities and believe in life before death. In Nepal and Bangladesh, we are involved in several thematic areas with our work focusing on resilient livelihood, active citizenship and migrants’ rights, among others. The DCA SARO invites applications from qualified and competent candidates for the position of Engineer based in Kathmandu.
1) Engineer: The position is required for Emergency Response Program and will be based in Kathmandu with frequent field visits to Dhading and Gorkha. The position will be mainly responsible to prepare and revise BoQ (Bill of Quantity) provide technical support to partners, make monitoring visits, reporting and conduct water and sanitation assessment. The position required till the end of June 2016 with possible extension for additional one year dependent on funding.
Required qualifications and competencies: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (preferable Master Degree in Water Resource/Hydraulics/Water Supply/Irrigation) with 2-4 years of relevant work experience. Should have excellent understanding of technical drawings and the bill of quantity, excellent knowledge to design gravity flow drinking water supply systems (for both rural and urban sectors) and have knowledge of all the structural components of water systems. In addition knowledge to design micro and small irrigation community based project and understanding of low cost and environment friendly infrastructure design. Good experience of conflict management at community level.
