Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

This is a senior level position and responsible for leading the Urban DRR Project including responsibility for management, supervision, project implementation, knowledge management, coordination, reporting, liaison with government, private sector, partners, and civil society, and networking. S/he will work closely with the consortium partners and ensure that all of the compliances related to the project are met. S/he will be responsible for contributing to the enhancement of urban resilience on the basis of the principle of “Building Back Better” by supporting in planning, implementing and disseminating experiences in various relevant platforms. S/he will lead on the development of an Urban DRR implementation strategy, assist in proposal development, and ensure technical backstopping of partners and other stakeholders. The positon is based in Kathmandu with frequent field visits. The positon will report to the Regional Program Officer - Humanitarian

Required qualifications and competencies: 

Postgraduate degree in DRR or relevant subject with 5 - 10 years of relevant work experience (managerial plus technical) in the Humanitarian and DRR Field.   S/he should have excellent knowledge and practical experience on program cycle management, knowledge management, and program development. Practical experience and knowledge on global and national DRR related policies and practices, core humanitarian standard (CHS), rights based approach, gender and social inclusion are key advantages for the successful candidate. Excellent coordination, networking, and facilitation skills are highly required.  Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and Nepali.  Experience of working with the private sector will be a tremendous asset as well.
