DanChurchAid – South Asia Regional Office Team leader for Emergency response
 
DanChurchAid (DCA) is a faith-based, non-missionary organization. We work for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities and believe in life before death. In Nepal and Bangladesh, we are involved in several thematic areas with our work focusing on resilient livelihood, active citizenship and migrants’ rights, among others. The DCA SARO invites applications from qualified and competent candidates for the position of Team Leader based in Kathmandu.
 
Team Leader:  This is a senior level position, reporting to the Head of Programmes, who is responsible to lead DCA’s Earthquake Recovery Programme including management, implementation, coordination, liaison, and networking. In addition s/he would be responsible to ensure the DCA’s partners are actively supported, and monitoring, reporting has been done and activities are carried out in a transparent and accountable manner. The Team Leader will be based in Kathmandu with frequent, around 30-40%, travel to field sites in Gorkha, Dhading, and Lalitpur. The programme will cover WASH, Shelter, Livelihoods, DRR and Psychosocial assistance. The positon will be for one year with possibility of extension depending on funding.  
 
Required qualifications and competencies:   Master’s degree with 5-7 years of work experience in disaster risk management, international field experience in disaster management and early recovery will add value. The successful candidate should have excellent understanding of the social, economic, humanitarian, political situations and programmatic issues of the Nepal, skill, knowledge and expertise in strategy and programme policy development processes, excellent knowledge on, and skills in fundraising and relationship and experience with donors, back donors (ECHO, public appeals, experience with DANIDA would be an advantage), etc. The person should have excellent coordination and networking skills.  Fluency in spoken and written English and Nepali are essential.
