Job Description

These positions will be based in Dhanghadi/Kathmandu/Nepalgunj (2)/Tulsipur, Nepal.

Specific duties:

  • Assist the trial coordinator in field layout, establishment of research trials and data collection.
  • Conduct research station adaptive trials and field demonstrations for innovating crop varieties at hub level.
  • Assess the effectiveness and impact of varieties by collecting and analyzing data.
  • Train small business entrepreneurs, field technicians, grass root extension workers and service providers and help developing training modules.
  • Organize field days for awareness generation about NSAF-promoted seed system technologies bringing in farmers, end users and partners.
  • Assist in the collection, management and tabulation of data from farmers’ fields
  • Facilitate studies to map adoption pattern of concerned NSAF Seed system technologies.
  • Assist in organizing visits, training events, and workshops.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of lab and farm equipment.
  • Help supervise contracted labor on daily basis to ensure quality field work.
  • Ensure proper record keeping of labor on daily basis and assigning day to day work to them in discussion with Trial Coordinators.

Required academic qualifications, skills and attitudes:

  • BSc degree in agronomy, horticulture, biological science or Diploma in agriculture
  • 5 years of experience for Diploma or 2 years for experience for BSc graduates in field trials.
  • Must have experience doing field work in agriculture, including working with governmental and non-governmental partners, and with farmers.
  • Must be proficient in field-based data collection, contributing data to research studies as well as monitoring and evaluation reports.
  • Must be able to work with a team, as well as independently.
  • Good communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to build partnerships in the field.
  • Good organizational skills and proficiency in written and spoken English are a must
