Job Description

These positions will be based in Kathmandu/Nepalgunj, Nepal.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Keep the vehicles clean and trouble free at all times. This includes, maintaining tire pressure, checking water levels in the radiator, battery and wiper water pot in regular manner, ensuring sufficient fuel at all times and to check that the brake oils, engine oil etc. are correct in the vehicle.
  • Check vehicles before going on field trips or on weekly basis.
  • Give timely notice on proper servicing and maintenance of vehicles and machines.
  • Take the vehicles to the workshop for its timely servicing and lubrication (every 3500-5,000 km).
  • Keep the vehicles servicing records, logbook updated on a register provided by CIMMYT and to keep the next service tag in each vehicle.
  • Show active and demonstrative role in any office functions and ceremonies.
  • Drive an official vehicle assigned by Seed System Lead (NSAF) for any specific activity whenever needed.

Required academic qualifications, skills and attitudes:

  • Minimum SLC (School Leave Certificate) with 5 years of progressive experience with NGOs/INGOs.
  • Clear record of safe driving.
  • Experience with agricultural machinery a plus.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to speak English
  • The selected candidate must exhibit the following: service orientation, ability to work under pressure and having motivation to work in the field.
