Job Description

These positions will be based in Dhanghadi/Nepalgunj/Tulsipur, Nepal.

Specific duties:

  • Coordinate NSAF seed systems field trial activities in collaboration with IRRI, CEPREAD, NARC, seed companies and NGO partners.
  • Facilitate building and nurturing a strong network of partners for adaptive research, seed multiplication / distribution and work towards building effective seed systems.
  • Backstop of the development, test, and refinement of key agricultural technical innovations, specifically those related to seed systems.
  • Provide agronomy support to all NSAF partners in the region in conducting different trials supporting seed systems.
  • Implement different CIMMYT projects, related to seed systems, in the region and dissemination of smart practices to the project partners and small holder farmers of the region.
  • Provide practical training to farmers, extensions workers, farm advisors and researchers from the partners.

Required academic qualifications, skills and attitudes:

  • MSc in agronomy or plant breeding with minimum 3 years of experience in conducting trials in research farm and farmer fields.
  • Significant and demonstrated practical experience in field-based varietal testing activities.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills with a demonstrated ability to liaise with partners in national systems and local governments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate research results effectively to a wide range of audiences through peer reviewed publications and other means
