Job Description

Job purpose:

  • Maintain effective management of information technology (IT)-based monitoring and information system of Elam and RBF projects of Helvetas Nepal;
  • Responsible to generate quality knowledge products and effective dissemination through appropriate means;
  • Assist Team Leader for quality and timely reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Implementation of Policies, Guidelines and Manuals

Adhere to all Helvetas Nepal policies, regulations and guidelines and other specific policies formed for the Elam Project.

2. Planning and Implementation

Assist Team Leader for preparing annual plans, review meetings of the projects;

Work closely with all project team members and relevant stakeholders (project steering committee, respective private organizations, business partners, government organizations etc.) for the planning and review meetings and ensure timely sharing of necessary information.

3. Monitoring and Reporting

Maintain the IT based monitoring tools, framework of the projects and proactively update the system/application as necessary;

Assess the data and information on the work carried out by the intermediate implementing partners like enterprise service providers, local service providers, private business partners, project team members and relevant personnel of palikas (government organizations);

Orient the IT based monitoring and information management system to all team members and relevant stakeholders;

Monitor the progress and achievement of the activities and regularly update Team Leader and the project team about it;

Collect data and information for the set indicators and regularly update the database ensuring quality and consistency of information;

Monitor participation of women and other disadvantaged groups in all stages of the project cycle as per GESI guideline of the projects;

Compile information and draft various reports (quarterly, bi-annual, annual etc.) in a timely manner;

Support team/consultants to conduct various study and evaluation of the project as necessary;

Support and bring innovative ideas for mobile/ technology-based monitoring tools.

4. Knowledge Management

Compile information and documents and generate quality knowledge products against the project outcome and outputs in close collaboration with the team;

Support the project team and stakeholders in documenting case studies, extracting lessons learnt and good practices;

Documentation of best practices, success stories, learnings and proceeding of major meeting and events;

Actively participate and contribute in knowledge platforms of Helvetas (Pamoja) or others;

Facilitates knowledge exchange amongst in-house projects and actively network with relevant stakeholders;

Use appropriate social network sites to communicate about the project;

5. Coordination and Networking

Maintain and establish cordial working relationship with partners such as Enterprise Service Providers, Local Resource Persons, Private organizations, Consultants, palikas, and private sectors;  

Support project team for enterprise development and job creation related activities such as business exploration survey, rapid market appraisal, business service delivery, capacity development, business networking development, product development and testing, and business plan preparation as required;

Ability to organize capacity development activities to business service providers for monitoring system development as per project log-frame.

6. Required Skills, Experience and Competencies

Required Qualification and Experiences

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Application with three years of working experience in the development sector in information technology and knowledge management, preferably in I/NGOs.  

Required Competencies:

Skills on database especially in SQL Server, MySQL, GIS and working knowledge in open Source data collection tools

Working experience in monitoring in SharePoint environment

Good command of written and spoken English and Nepali

Knowledge of social development sectors and social enterprises

Excellent documentation, report writing skills

Skills on developing quality knowledge products as: news, press release, articles, stories

Proven skills to develop communication materials as news, press release, articles, stories

Result oriented personality/maintaining deadlines

Excellent interpersonal skill and a team player

Commitment towards gender equality, social inclusion and poverty reduction

Understanding of conflict sensitive programme management
