Job Description

Handicap International Federation (HI) is an independent and impartial aid organization, created in 1982, working across 63 countries. HI works alongside the vulnerable populations, whatever the context, taking action to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. Present in Nepal since 2000, HI works through a network of local partner organizations in the area of health and physical rehabilitation, inclusive education and resilience including emergency response to improve the living conditions and involvement of the most vulnerable populations in Nepal.

HI Nepal is recruiting the following positions for the implementation of Disability Inclusive Development (DID)project. 

Project Officer, SRHR & Livelihood – 1 position 

Terms & Conditions: 1 year contract based in Surkhet

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Liaise with Health officials at Municipality level, Hospitals, Urban Health Centre and Primary Health Care Centre;
  • Liaise and ensure compliance with Disability Coordination Committee (DCC) in both  municipalities, provincial authorities for necessary compliance and  approval of studies, tested models;  
  • Coordinate with BRAC team and implementing partner organisation for successful implementation of Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Livelihood (SARAL) components;
  • Support and provide guidance in coordination with project manager to Vulnerable Focal Point Officer and Disability Inclusion Officer;
  • Contribute to DCCs in municipalities for the  effective execution  of responsibilities as guided by the Disability Rights Act 2017, 
  • Support to assess accessibility and level of inclusive services in both health and livelihood facilities. 
  • Take lead in arranging and managing events, training to health officials, identifying disability inclusion facilitators in both municipalities and partner DPO;
  • Support and ensure DPOs’ engagement as per the guidance provided from HI country office, Kathmandu at local level and liaise and coordinate with NFDN provincial chapter for the same;

Qualification and Skills Required: 

  • At least Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Public Health or related field
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in SRHR preferably with disability and inclusion exposure.
  • Experience of mentoring staff and local organization and transferring skills and knowledge.
  • Report writing and documentation skills
  • Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health rights and system in Nepal
