Job Description

Scope of Work:

  • Prepare a regional brief on WASH in HCFs focusing on primary and community health platforms including detailed recommendations and action plan for scaling up WASH in HCFs in the region based on the recommendation made by the Rapid Landscape Assessment of WASH-FIT and Health Care Waste Management in South Asia, 2025. (within month 3)
  • Develop an investment case for WASH in HFs for SAR (within month 6)
  • Coordinate and facilitate country specific training of trainer's sessions on WASHFIT implementation in at least four countries. (within month 9)
  • Support countries to develop cascaded training plans on WASH in HCF in at least four countries. (within month 9)
  • Organize and facilitate Health Care Waste management (HCWM) trainings (2-3 days) in at least four countries (Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan)
  • Provide technical support to regular quarterly regional coordination review meetings on WASH in HCFs for eight countries in SAR including development of human-interest stories and case studies as part of the Republic of Korea partnership.
  • Support countries to update national strategy on WASH in HCF, country level WASH in HCF briefs, costed roadmaps for WASH in HCF for 2030 (at least one countries among Afghanistan, Srilanka, Pakistan, Maldives).
  • Based on findings of the regional brief, support integrating WASH indicators into HMIS and strengthening data systems in national information systems (at least in one country among Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal).
  • Organize and facilitate regional webinars (at least three) for knowledge sharing on WASH in Health Care facilities, and euVjYnG BIpnb
  • As guided by the ROSA WASH and Health in HCF focal points, provide regional and country specific technical support on the development and/or review of existing WASH in HCF guidance and standard documents, knowledge management and monitoring.
  • Guidance for developing short videos for visibility.

Job Specification

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

Education: Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in relevant field such as in Public Health, Environmental Health, Engineering, Social Sciences or related field relevant to international WASH/Health programming

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

  •  Minimum ten years of solid professional WASH sector or water resources management experiences in the UN or other international organisation, government or the private sector of which:
  •  At least seven years of experience in public health issues in developing countries, at middle- level management
  •  At least five years' experience in implementing WASH and or WASH in health care facilities programmes essential.
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of WASHFIT and Waste management and environmental cleaning aspects in healthcare facilities.
  •  Proven skills in facilitating trainnings, conducting webinars, meeting and conferences.
  •  Solid knowledge of tools and methods for capacity assessment, data/statistical analysis and reporting platforms.
  •  Strong communication skills (written and oral) in English are required.
  •  Familiarity with UNICEF WASH programmes and sector systems strengthening
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working in a multicultural environment
