Job Description

UN-Habitat Nepal with the support of Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) is supporting Survey Department of Nepal in piloting Fit For Purpose land administration services from its district based offices. Fit For Purpose land administration is about fast, cheap and quality services providing for sequential upgrading. The piloting will be initiated from Survey Department district office in Dolakha. For the project, UN-Habitat seeks one LIS Associate under Individual Consultant (IC) service contract.  

LIS Associate: 1 Post

Contract Type: Individual Consultant (IC)

Duty Station: Charikot 

Duration: 3 to 4 Months (Full time stationed in Charikot) till March 2017..

Starting Date: The candidate should be available to take up assignment immediately

General Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s in Surveying, Geomatics Engineering, GIS, or a related discipline.

Qualifications:

1. Experience in ArcGIS.

2. Experience in QGIS.

3. Knowledge of STDM.

4. Knowledge of relational database system such as PostgreSQL.

5. Knowledge of Nepal Survey Department workflow.

6. Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as digitization, georeferencing, map projections, etc..

7. Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, with technical and non-technical staff and partners.

8. Strong motivation and organizational skills & ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines is essential.

9. Ability to write documentation on workflows, project implementation, and user guides. 

10. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali.
