Short Term Support (STS)- Human Resource and Organizational Development

(HROD)

Department: Human Resource and Organizational Development (HROD)

Suggested Period: Maximum six months

Duration: March - September 2019

Background

ActionAid International Nepal (AAIN) is anti-poverty, human rights-based organization established in 1982. It is an associate member of the ActionAid International Federation. ActionAid International is active in over 45 countries across Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe, with international secretariat in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is committed to improving the quality of life of the poorest and the most marginalized people so that they can live a life of dignity. Its mission here is to work with people living in poverty and excluded people to eradicate poverty and injustice in Nepal.

Overall Responsibility of the STS

The overall responsibility of the STS is to provide maternity cover for the position of HROD Officer.

Specific responsibilities of the STS

The specific responsibilities of the short-term support are as follows:

  • Support the HROD Manager in the process of revision of HROD Policy and Procedure Manual
  • Support and coordinate HR staffing tasks including induction to new hires, probation completion, managing staff separation, contract end renewal date and processes, and other related processes
  • Support in drafting job descriptions in coordination with respective departments
  • Facilitate the staff and consultants hiring process
  • Assist HROD Manager for staffing related information sharing to all staff
  • Support in the statutory reporting requirements for the department
  • Update the Communication Tree periodically
  • Any other official duties assigned by HROD Manager

Required Qualification and experience

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Management related field; preferably a Master’s degree with a specialization in Human Resource Management
  • 2-3 years’ experience in HR/OD; preferably at Officer level in an INGO

Required Skills and competencies

  • Good computer skills, interpersonal, communication and time management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Time Frame

  • This STS agreement has been planned from March- September 2019

Focal person

  • The focal person for the STS will be HROD Manager.
