Job Description

Programme Manager (1) based in Kathmandu. Job Duration: Two years contract (renewable)

This is a senior staff member of the CSRC management team who is responsible for providing strategic leadership for managing projects and ensuring programme/project outcomes/results commensurate the goals and milestones established by the Strategic Plan. S/he shall be responsible for maintaining good working relationships with government officials, donors, implementation partners, civil society actors and other national and international stakeholders. S/he reports to the Executive Director. This position requires extensive travel within the country.
a. Areas of Responsibilities


The Programme Manager is responsible for designing land, housing and property related project activities within the framework of Strategic Plan 2015-19. S/he is responsible for planning and budgeting following participatory methods and complying programme/project targets and conditions. S/he is responsible for quality assurance and strengthening partnerships with a wide range of civil society organizations especially land-poor people's organizations and other government and non-government stakeholders. S/he has to strategize and lead the public policy analysis and advocacy initiative at national and sub-national levels along with building strong rapport with alliances and networks. S/he will provide assistance in developing CSRC's Strategic Plan, policies and systems and execute them.


b. Experiences and Skills
The applicants must have: i) at least five years practical experience of designing and implementing social development programmes following human rights based approach; ii) engaged in public policy analysis and advocacy work; iii) handled programme planning and budget for over NPR 5 million per annum; iv) practical knowledge about monitoring and evaluation systems; v) produced periodic progress reports both in English and Nepali languages; vi) supervised staff; and vii) worked with or building alliance/networks.

Desired skills of the applicants include; good leadership, inter personal skills, strategic thinking, knowledge about land and agrarian issues, good understanding about human rights and good governance, sense of activism, verbal and written communication in English and Nepali languages, report writing and presentation, knowledge of IT, project proposal writing.

c. Academic Qualifications
This position requires minimum Master’s Degree in Sociology/Anthropology, humanity, law, management or equivalent subject.
