Job Description

Livelihoods and DRR Officer (2) based in Sindhupalowk and Nuwakot. Job Duration: One year

This is a middle level position in CSRC team who is responsible for taking leadership and providing strategic direction for actions towards livelihoods improvement/food security and disaster risk reduction of the earthquake affected target community in Sindhupalchwok and Nuwakot district. S/he reports to the Programme Coordinator. This is field based position.

a. Areas of Responsibilities
The Livelihoods and DRR Officer takes responsibility of designing and implementing community-preferred viable and sustainable livelihood interventions that contribute to recover regular business and enhance food security of earthquake affected families. S/he provides expert services to the community in selecting and applying appropriate agriculture inputs. S/he supports families and community institutions in selecting and undertaking agro-enterprise development activities and support for value chain process and marketing their products. S/he provides guidance and technical assistance in strengthening cooperatives, including their product development leading to food security of vulnerable people. Design and effectively execute of DRR activities, Facilitate Participatory Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments (PVCAs), facilitate to form local disaster risk management committee (LDRMC) at community and VDC level. Facilitate to develop Age inclusive Risk Reduction Action Plans with integration of OPAs in Local Disaster Risk Management Planning (LDRMP), and other relevant process.

b. Experiences and Skills
The applicants must have: i) at least two years practical experience in agro-enterprise development for the low income community; ii) demonstrated experience in cooperative strengthening and products development; iii) good understanding in agro-expertise designing and implementation; iv) good experience in value chain analysis and market research; and v) good experience designing and conducting trainings/workshops; Vi) Have related educational qualification in Disaster Risk Reduction, Disaster Management , Crises Management, Recovery and Emergency management etc .
Desired skills of the applicants include; good understanding of business opportunities/livelihood interventions in the post-disaster context, good knowledge about interrelation between disaster agro-enterprise and food security, good analysis and report writing, good communication verbal and written Nepali and English languages, understanding of local languages.
 
c. Academic Qualifications
This position requires minimum Bachelors' degree in agriculture, social work or related subject.
