Job Description

Program Officer – Gender and Inclusion

Under the direct supervision of the IFES Nepal Deputy Country Director, the Gender and Inclusion Program Officer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support curriculum development and deliver trainings on topics related to gender and elections
  • Liaise closely with members and officials of Nepal’s electoral institutions to ensure effective mainstreaming of issues related to gender and disability in program implementation
  • Serve as a resource person on electoral participation of women and persons with disabilities, including leading outreach to local women’s groups and disabled persons’ organizations (DPOs), and drawing on research of national and international best practices of political inclusion
  • Support IFES Nepal’s civic and voter education subaward programs through program design, training, monitoring and evaluation
  • Conduct research to assess political participation of women, persons with disabilities, and LGBTI communities in Nepal
  • Ensure that gender and inclusion is mainstreamed in all activities of IFES Nepal
  • Draft program reports and materials to meet donor requirements
  • Carry out other tasks as identified and requested by the Country Director and Deputy Country Director

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Master degree in sociology, gender studies or other related fields
  • At least 6 years of working experience in gender and inclusion working with civil society, INGOs or government agencies; training experience preferred
  • Demonstrate experience in project design and training materials with gender approach
  • Fluency in English and Nepali, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
  • Strong team player, ability to work under pressure, excellent organizational skills

The position is based in Kathmandu with occasional field visits and will have one-year full-time staff contract including benefits with possibility to extend.
