Job Description

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is an international NGO that supports the building of democratic societies around the world. Since 2006, IFES Nepal has worked with the Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) and local civil society partners to enhance citizen participation and strengthen civil society, governance and transparency.

IFES Nepal is seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer to provide M&E support for IFES Nepal’s programs and sub-awards. This position will be under the supervision of the Sr. M&E Manager and will be full-time, based in Kathmandu.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support program team to collect, record, verify and evaluate data on program activities and ensure that necessary data is being collected for project indicators;

  • Liase with program team and IFES Nepal sub-award partners on project progress, reporting, indicators, and data collection;

  • Serve as M&E resource for the program team and sub-award partners;

  • Help develop new data collection and tracking tools and maintain new and existing tools;

  • Create data visualization tools, including infographics, graphs, tables, matrices, and other useful tools to capture the progress of projects against project indicators; • Contribute to briefing notes and program reports as requested;

  • Manage day-to-day project activities in an efficient and effective manner;

  • Travel as necessary to support IFES Nepal’s and/or sub-award partners’ M&E efforts;

  • Troubleshoot challenges with IFES Nepal’s and sub-award partners’ M&E systems and identify and implement creative solutions;

  • Other relevant duties as assigned by the Country Director, Deputy Country Director, and/or the Sr. M&E Manager.

Job Specification

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, international development, political science, international relations or a related field, Master’s degree preferred;

  •  Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in international development or related field, ideally in a monitoring and evaluation role and on democracy or election programs;

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills;

  •  Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs, Excel, Internet) are required;

  • Experience with data collection tools, graphs and tables is preferred;

  •  Ability to work independently in support of a team;

  • Applicants must already reside in Nepal, preferably in Kathmandu;

  • Availability to travel up to 10%.
