Job Description

Swisscontact is a leading partner organisation for the implementation of international development projects. In Nepal, Swisscontact is registered as an INGO that started its operations in 1991. Currently, Swisscontact Nepal (SCN) has five development programmes across different provinces of the country. SCN provides technical support to the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT)/National Skill Testing Board (NSTB) to implement Nepal Vocational Qualifications System Project (NVQS-P). The Government of Switzerland/Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) provides financial and technical assistance to develop National Vocational Qualifications System (NVQS) and to establish a corresponding NVQ Authority in Nepal through NVQS P.
SCN has set up a technical assistance team- Project Support Unit (PSU) on behalf of SDC for implementation of NVQS-P. We invite applications from qualified candidates (Nepali Citizens) for the position of Program

Intern to implement the ongoing Phase II of NVQS Project.
For the second Phase of NVQS-P, we invite applications from committed and experienced Nepali citizens for the following position.

Program Intern (1)
Location:
NVQS-P Project Support Unit (PSU) Office, CTEVT Complex, Sanothimi Bhaktapur.
Reports to: Process Manager
Duration: Six months with possibility of extension

 

Purpose of the Job
The program intern will support in program implementation and support for developing National Competency Standards and Assessment Package Development under the supervision of Process Manager and Deputy Team Leader – Program being based at the PSU at the Federal level.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform following functions at NVQS-P:

  • Support for functional analysis to develop National Competency Standards in coordination with Sector Skills Committee.
  • Support to review and revise the National Occupational Skills Standards into National Competency Standards as suggested by the supervisor.
  • Be a part of the team for action research and database management for National Skill Testing Board (NSTB)/NVQS-P.
  • Support to develop Assessment Packages as suggested by the supervisor.
  • Support the supervisor in planning and management of workshops and trainings.
  • Perform record keeping and management of data related with program activities.
  • Prepare event report and share with the team to promote learning culture.
  • Perform other duties as per the need of NVQS-P as defined by the supervisor.

Required competencies of the incumbent are as follows:

  • Understanding about Skill Assessment and Certification System.
  • Communication proficiency – proficient in English and Nepali language.
  • Able to establish good interpersonal relations with staff, technical experts, members of sector skill committees and CTEVT/NSTB.
  • Good understanding of work in the related technical field.
  • Good understanding about professional organizational culture.
  • Able to work in multi-disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to work in multi culture environment.
  • Innovative and adaptive.

No specific requirement for this position, however, sincerity, punctuality, discipline, willingness to learn, and people relation skills are important. Swisscontact employee Code of Conduct is integral part of each incumbent.

Qualification, Experience and Skills
The individual must conform to the following qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent (Preferably in Civil/ Construction sector)
  • Preferably some work experience in related technical field.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is office-based position and may require long hours of work and may have to work during weekends.

Travel
This position requires up to 50% travel.
