Position: Senior Program Coordinator -Eastern Cluster

Report: Country Representative and Senior Program Manager

Direct Reportees/Supervision:

District Coordinators/Program Officers and eastern cluster based admin and financestaff

Location: OHW Eastern Regional Office with frequentfield visits in the program districts

Purpose of the Position:

The Senior Program Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of One Heart World-Wide’s eastern cluster operation. This position will provide programmatic support for planning, implementation, and monitoring of OHW’s Network of Safety for Women and Newborns in program districts such as Bojpur, Terathum, Panchthar, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha and Ilam with periodic field visits.  This position reports to the Country Representative and works closely with the Sr. Program Manager and the Administrative Director.  The Program Coordinator’s main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Program Planning/ Development/Coordination:

  • Under the direction of the Country Representative, the Program Coordinator will supervise and monitor eastern program activities in the cluster districts (Taplejung, Panchthar, Terahthum, Sankuwasabha,Bhojpur and Ilam) and will:
  • Under minimum supervision and direction is willing to deliver all program related deliverables in the OHW program districts and supports the scale-up of the Network of Safety for women and newborns in eastern mountain, hilly districts of Nepal.
  • Monitor progress against the agreed targets, provide programmatic and financial reports, and ensure quality.
  • Make regular visits to program districts to assess progress in program implementation, financial expenditure and report back to the Senior Program Manager and Admin Director.
  • Initiate and support development of OHW Nepal operational plans based on the strategic directions for the program districts.
  • Participate in program and activity planning and implementation
  • Work closely with the country team and regional team members so as to make implementation of the OHW program activities in the six districts impactful and supporting to save lives of women and children.
  • Coordinate with Regional Directorate, District (Public) Health Offices and local Government offices in OHW program districts for smooth implementation of all OHW activities. 
  • Provide overall programmatic support

Communication and Information Processing:

  • Communicate on biweekly basis with the CR and Senior Program Manager(E-mail and brief written reports)
  • Attend and respond to requests and inquiries, both internal and external, in a timely manner
  • Work together with theM&E team and communication officer in the preparation of program briefs, press note and other advocacy materials. This includes obtaining successful case stories from the districts, audio-visual materials, etc.
  • Prepare presentations and graphic material for OHW reports, work plans,review meetings and other documents

 

Management and Administrative Tasks:

  • Work closely with the district coordinators, provide precise information to CRand Administrative Director on financial forecasts and spending plan, and recommend request for payment.
  • Support CR and OHW senior management team with program planning, budgeting, including projections in accordance with institutional guidelines.
  • Contribute to the collectionand dissemination of information on project activities, outcomes, best practices, and lessons learned including success stories, study results and articles
  • Support OHW Program Officers and Training Officers in draftingconsultants’ TOR and reviewingtimesheets by verifying their contracts awarded bythe OHW country office. Ensure that payments for expenses incurred for the program activities are made on time.
  • Maintain program files for technical deliverables, reports and study results;
  • Maintain project activities calendar and monitor completion of routine OHW monthly and quarterly reports
  • Exercise sound skills in the regional and district level HR management.
  • Support Logistics and Procurement team to prepare procurement plan and list.  Support the team to process requisition of supplies and equipment required for various OHW program activities with guidance from CR, Sr. Program Manager and Administrative Director.
  • Be proactive in finding solutions if asked by the senior management team or CR.

Requirements:

  • Advance Professional Degrees in health or MBA with more than 7 yrs. Ofwork experience OR
  • PhD with 5 yrs. Of work experiencerelevant in maternal and child health program management in the development organizations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior-level program and administrative work experience with an excellent track record in result based management, preferably for an organization implementing MCH programs in developing country settings.
  • Experience of working in the Nepal’s public health system and academic institutions.
  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, and be proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali;
  • Excellent organizational, articulation and managerial skills and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office, including Word, Power Point, and Excel.
