Job Position: Account Officer Duty Station: Kathmandu with need for field visits Reports to: Sr. Account Officer
Purpose of the Post:
Responsible for the general accounting function including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the senior account officer in carrying out the responsibilities of the account and budget department.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares payments by verifying documentation and documents financial transactions by entering account information in the Quick book/ FAMAS.
Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, Income and expenditure statements and other reports as required.
Guide districts office accounting staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
Visit district offices to mentor District staff regarding financial policy, procedures as and when required.
Assist in preparation of partners reports as per request, monthly reports including bank reconciliation and ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes.
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
Responsible for appropriate deduction of tax at source, payment within due date & filing of TDS returns.
Assist to Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
Explain accounting policies to staff, vendors, consultants etc as and when require.
Assist to ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data
Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
Assist in Preparing monthly payroll
Monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences
Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process
Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
Performs other duties, as required.
Qualification and Experiences:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Business Studies or accounting and at least 3 years of experiences of similar position in development organizations. Higher degrees preferred.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and generating budget forecasts.
Good commands in writing accounting reports in English.
knowledge of financial reporting
Knowledge of Nepal Government laws regarding accounting and taxation
Technical accounting skills including excellent skills in IT and budgeting tools.
Proficiency in relevant accounting software especially quick book and FAMAS
