Job Description

Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit making, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara. LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving livelihoods of rural people who are dependent on natural resources in Nepal and the South Asia region. ‘Home Garden Project (HGP) Phase IV’ is an Embassy of Switzerland/Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) funded Project (within the framework of international cooperation; based on Project Agreement between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland), implemented by LI-BIRD (Project Support Unit) in 20 districts of Nepal from 1 November 2014 to 15 July 2018.

Job Summary: Reporting to Team Leader, FO will be responsible to implement, co-ordinate and manage the project by involving all the stakeholders including DADO/ASCs, DDC, VDC and AFEC. The FO’s duties include: ensuring overall implementation of project activities; monitoring and quality control; capacity building of farmers groups; organizing public hearing and social audit activities and co-ordinating with SDC-funded projects for synergy. 

Education, Experience and Social Competence: Bachelors in Agriculture or Natural Resource Management. Candidates with two years of experiences will have an advantage. Sensitivity in the areas of gender and social inclusion.
