Deputy Director Of Programme Operations (Level 10) – 1, Pokhara Based (With Frequent Travel To Field Sites)

Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Programme Operations, the Deputy Director of Programme Operations is responsible forensuring quality delivery and implementation of LI-BIRD projects and programmes. The incumbent is expected to inspire, motivate and guidestaff to strive for continuous self-improvement in terms of critical thinking, initiative and team building leading to better overall performance.

Key roles and responsibilities: (1) Ensure quality programme implementation: management of ongoing and new grants, contracts orprojects; budget planning and monitoring; updating and communicating LI-BIRD’s programme policies and strategies to project staff andpartners; respond to key project audit findings/recommendations. (2) Management of LI-BIRD’s partnership: external relations related toongoing and new grants, contracts or projects (e.g., donor, partner, government and other key stakeholders) and sub-grantee partners andsub-grant monitoring/supervision; (3) Coordinate cluster coordination mechanisms to build programme synergies, facilitate cross-learningand document innovations, including replication/scaling up of successful approaches/models for cost effectiveness and impact at scale;design and implement decentralized operational modality to improve LI-BIRD’s credibility, field presence, relevance and to achieve greatercost effectiveness, efficiencies and impact; (4) Programme development: contribute to the design and preparation of concept notes, EoIs andproposals under the leadership of the Programme Development Unit.

Education and Experience: Masters Degree in Agriculture, Environment, NRM or Development Studies with 8 years of work experience.
