Job Description

GEMS HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL invites applications from competent, dynamic and experienced candidates for the post of Chemistry Lab Technician.

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject and a minimum two years of experience working in a chemistry lab.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure, together with teaching staff, that laboratories are locked when teachers are not present and that students do not have unsupervised access to laboratories, prep rooms or science equipment.
  • Set up equipment for students and instructors.
  • Be familiar with fire and emergency procedures including the roles required of a technician within this.
  • Provide equipment and materials to support Chemistry practical teaching.
  • Ensure adequate stocks in the laboratories and maintaining inventory record.
  • Assist with preparation for lecture demonstrations as appropriate.
  • Recommend and/or perform maintenance or repairs of equipment in the chemistry laboratories.
  • Participate in and contribute to a safe environment in the Chemistry Laboratory by preparing Health and Safety guidelines needed within the laboratory.
  • Participate in and contribute to the achievement of the Chemistry Laboratory, Departmental and College goals through other related duties
  • Carry out other duties assigned as per the need of the institution

Organization Summary

GEMS Institute of Higher Education, the higher section of Graded English Medium School (GEMS), was established in 2008 with the prime objective of providing higher level education from Pre-university to Masters level degree courses. Currently, we offer GCE A Level, a prestigious degree programme of the Cambridge University, the UK and Plus 2 in Science under the affiliation with Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB), Nepal. We also offer Bachelor of Science (BS) programme under the affiliation with Angeles University Foundation (AUF), the Philippines.
