Job Description

Position: Geomatic Engineer

Location: Kathmandu (with frequent travel to Dolakha, Nuwakot and Dhading)

Duration of Employment:
ï‚· One year fixed term contract (extendable)

Education:
ï‚· Bachelors in Geomatic Engineering

Prior work Experience:
ï‚· One year in similar position

Language:
ï‚· Fluent English in speaking, reading and writing are required.

Skills and abilities:
ï‚· Familiar with GIS software
ï‚· Numerate and technically competent, problem solving and analytical skills
ï‚· Familiar with various computer software packages, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel

Detail Term of Reference:
ï‚· Analyzing data using plans, maps, charts and computer applications such as CAD and GIS
ï‚· Presenting data as required
ï‚· Advising about technical matters and whether the construction plans are viable
ï‚· Produce written reports on activities and outcomes
ï‚· Perform other duties as assigned

Organization Summary

 

National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET), with funding support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is implementing a 5-year “Baliyo Ghar” program to contribute to safer reconstruction in Nepal.


The objective of the program is to ensure disaster- resilient construction of houses through awareness, training, demonstration and support on code compliance. The program aims to expand the technical knowledge and expertise gathered during the program implementation for achieving the broader goal of disaster resilient housing construction in Nepal.
