Position Title: Program Coordinator

Duty Station: LWF Nepal, Country Office, Kathmandu

Report to: Country Director, LWF Nepal

Job Summary

The Program Coordinator (PC) is a senior staff member of the LWF Nepal Country Management Team, who is responsible for leading the LWF Nepal’s programmatic guidance and operation. The PC is responsible for the development and quality delivery of the projects in compliance with the LWF World Service global strategy, Country Strategy, global policies and guidelines and donor and partner agreements. The PC ensures that all projects contribute to the achievement of the set strategic objectives.

The PC is responsible for overall program management, quality assurance, strengthening partnerships, knowledge management, fundraising and donor compliances. The PC ensures that the LWF World Service Nepal's program contributes to national priorities and international development goals. In joint collaboration with the CD, the PC is responsible for maintaining good working relationships with the government officials, donors, implementation partners, civil society actors and other national and international stakeholders. The PC ensures constant supervision of projects and staff so that the country strategy and project documents have been properly implemented achieving anticipated results.

Job Specification

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Master’s degree in development studies, management, international humanitarian assistance, social science, public administration.

Required professional experience:

A minimum of 10-15 years of professional experience in development and humanitarian assistance and 5-10 years’ experience in managing and leading program teams.

Language requirements:

  • Strong skills in writing and communicating in English and Nepali (both oral and written) is required.
  • Knowledge of other national languages would be an advantage.
  • Required key competencies and skills
  • Proven track record in strategic management, project cycle management, policy advocacy, fund raising and knowledge management.
  • Ability to work in a flexible but organized and responsive manner under pressure and in stressful situations where priority setting is required.
  • Solid understanding of human rights-based programming and development, rehabilitation and emergency work related to national and international policies, strategies, UN conventions and international laws.
  • Good knowledge of financial management.
  • Strong analytical problem solving, coaching, mentoring, and supervision skills.
  • Proven track record in coordinating a team and facilitating relevant and timely support to remote field based staff for quality and timely delivery of projects.
  • Result oriented team player with decision making skills.
  • Good understanding of social inclusion, gender and caste issues (organizational and programmatic).
  • Proven track record in coordination, liaison and networking.
  • Experience in conflict management and negotiation.
  • Knowledge and experience in institutional capacity assessment/building.
  • Very good computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Uphold highest standards from staff to follow the LWF Staff Code of Conduct.
