Major Challenges

LWF has been working in Nepal since 1984 with its development program evolving from service-oriented sectoral and community development approach towards empowerment and human rights-based approaches, increasingly working with the most disadvantaged groups. Having said that, LWF Nepal has also been at the forefront in responding to major emergencies in the country including the work with Bhutanese Refugees and the response to the devastating earthquake in 2015.

LWF has always aimed for the responsible transfer of operational responsibility of programs to local agencies at the earliest feasible time, taking into account their capacity to assume such responsibility. After strengthening local capacities for over 35 years, there is a need to review the current programming and prepare a roadmap on the future of the program, including the option of localisation
