Job Description

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Program Coordinator (PC) will be directly responsible for implementation and monitoring of PAHAL activities in district level. The PC will also be responsible for meeting reporting requirements and adhering to deadlines, primary liaison with district stakeholders, program partners and beneficiary communities at the district level. The position will closely work with LNGO staff as a supervisor and report to District Coordinator. S/he will also be directly responsible for beneficiary training and capacity building; technical support for the implementation of program activities.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Program Implementation

  • Identify the capacity building needs e.g. personal development and organizational needs, essential for the program.

  • Provide support to the partner staff in enhancing their knowledge, capacity and awareness of Disaster Risk Reduction/Climate change adaptation including EWS, mainstreaming and related, Financial Services approaches, Livelihood, Economic Development (Market Analysis).

  • Support partner to organize district, VDC and community level events /workshops/trainings.

  • Provide technical support to partner staff and beneficiary communities in carrying out PVCA, Market analysis and other DRR/CCA, Financial Services, Technical Education and Vocational Training related assessments as per program requirements.

  • Coordinate with DC for all field activities in the district.

  • Utilize personal knowledge, connections and skills to build sustainable and productive relationships with and between diverse key stakeholders from the public, private and civic sectors.

  • Any other tasks as assigned by DC.

 

Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Reporting

  • Facilitate the achievement by the PC and partner team members of performance-based targets and outcomes and support efforts to design effective, proactive, and iterative M&E systems.

  • Ensure monitoring of field level activities within the district to be on time, target and budget, and propose recommendations for improvements.

  • Support DC for regular DPAC monitoring visits and meetings to share program progress and receive feedback.

  • Coordinate closely with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning focal points to generate and collect required information and data in the process of measuring results of program intervention.

  • Ensured for monthly/quarterly plan and report is submitted timely.

  • Support DC to generate quality progress reports and documents capturing program learning’s and good practices.

  • Ensure that innovative approaches, good practices, particular challenges, or good results are documented to support agency learning.

  • Follow reporting requirements and report to the DC through appropriate means as required.

  • Establish good coordination with government and non-government stakeholders to prevent duplication of actions.

 

Representation

  • As required by the DC, liaise with and represent the program’s components to local government officials, civil society/community leaders, political parties and other key stakeholders in the district.

  • Ensure close coordination and information sharing with other partners, local government.

  • Establish and maintain professional and productive relationships with communities and local government.

  • Serve as key focal point for program related issues and problems in the district and seek support from DC as required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Staff of the partner

 

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: District Coordinator

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • At least 2-3 years of working experience as program coordinator in similar nature program, preferred with the experience in DRR/CCA, Financial Services, Alternative Market, Wash/Nutrition, Agriculture.

  • At least Bachelor degree in relevant discipline ( Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Business / development Studies)

  • Work experience in the Far Western region and local is an advantage.

  • Strong training design, development and facilitation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in complex environments under tight deadlines. Previous experience is highly preferred.

  • Strong organizational and logistical skills with demonstrated experience in strategic planning and ability to work independently.

  • Good writing and computer skills, internet, MS Word, Excel and Power Point preparation are required.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali. Knowledge of local language is an advantage.

  • Effective report writing and presentation skills

  • Negotiation, networking, coordination and representation skills with key local actors.

Organization Summary

Community Rural Development Society – Nepal

Community Rural Development society-Nepal(CRDS-Nepal) founded in 1992, registered in district administration office Darchula one of the most remote district of Nepal to participate in community devlopment process as non profitable organization. At present, it is a consortium of 11 members. The early focus was on improving infrastructure in remote areas and agriculture extension activities as partner organization of District Agriculture Development Office. Today, its programs are wide ranging and promote equitable and sustainable livelihood in rural area of Nepal.   The programs include: improving people’s access to food, health, education, economic opportunities, natural resources and safe environment; promoting governance, peace and disaster risk reduction; and strengthening the ability of the poor and marginalized to exercise their rights and participate in the decisions that affect their lives.

CRDS Nepal works through both formal and informal collaboration at multiple levels: with local NGOs, CBOs, government agencies, communities, civil society groups, federations, networks and private sector. CRDS Nepal is currently working in partnership with community level local CBOs, different networks and a range of community groups. Partnership with local institutions is an important means of increasing the reach and sustainability of CRDS programs, while increasing the institutional capacity of CBOs. CRDS’s collaboration with government line agencies ensures that it’s programs complement local level plans and policies.

Today, CRDS Nepal operates in 41 VDCs of remote part of Darchula Districts & far western development region through 7 community development programs. Now It has expanded its working area throughout Nepal. National level programs are being coordinated by central office established in kathmandu.

It is one of the pioneering NGOs that have adopted the Participatory Approach in working with marginalized families and communities in delivering developmental programs in Darchula district of Nepal.
