Duty Station : Pocket


 

Purpose of Position:

Agriculture technician will be responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of agriculture components of PAHAL project at pocket level. S/he will work closely with PAHAL pocket and district staff. More specifically, s/he will be responsible for following tasks;

  • Responsible for pocket level agriculture and market development activities to implement at pocket level of the PAHAL project.

  •  

  • Develop strong linkages and coordination with VDC/Municipalities and service centre of line agencies of the the assigned VDC and create synergy.

  • Support agriculture officer to develop detail implementation plan (DIP) of Agriculture component.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly plan in consultation with agriculture officer/district coordinator.

  • Support agriculture officer to implement effectively agriculture component activities in assigned pocket as per DIP.

  • Support agriculture officer/PC in integrating Agriculture components at the assigned VDC planning mechanism.

  • Support and facilitate community and agriculture officer to identify sites to implement agriculture component activities.

  • Support and ensure to develop commercial pocket of high value crop and promotion of conservation agricultural best practices.

  • Support and facilitate community mobilizer and community during target group identification, group formation, mobilization and implementation of agriculture component activities in the assigned VDC/pocket.

  • Facilitate training, workshop and orientation program of agriculture and marketing component of PAHAL project.

  • Support and facilitate community, community mobilizers and others to integrate agriculture and marketing component activities in planning process.

  • Work closely with pocket and district team during planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of Agriculture components.

  • Support/promote pilot demonstration of agricultural related innovation, technologies and practice including MIT, IPM technology, farm mechanization and etc.

  • Regular field visit to provide technical assistance and backstopping of community.

  • Support District coordinator to organize joint monitoring (central/regional, district) involving different stakeholders as per need.

  • Document and share learning and experiences with seniors as appropriate.

  • Support agriculture officer to prepare district level synthesis report of agriculture component.

  • Support agricultural officer to maintain and compile database, case studies and reports as required.

  • Support agriculture officer/DC to manage visit of visitors, guests and representatives from donor and other stakeholders as per need.

  • Perform duties as assigned by agricultural officer, Program coordinator and District Coordinator.

Required qualification and experience:

  • Junior Technician (JT) / I. Sc Agriculture with at least 1 year or JTA with at least 3 years experiences in related field.

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with community and coordination of all sub sector staff of pocket level.

  • Basic knowledge in computer (MS word, excel and power point) will be an added advantage

Community Rural Development Society – Nepal

Community Rural Development society-Nepal(CRDS-Nepal) founded in 1992, registered in district administration office Darchula one of the most remote district of Nepal to participate in community devlopment process as non profitable organization. At present, it is a consortium of 11 members. The early focus was on improving infrastructure in remote areas and agriculture extension activities as partner organization of District Agriculture Development Office. Today, its programs are wide ranging and promote equitable and sustainable livelihood in rural area of Nepal.   The programs include: improving people’s access to food, health, education, economic opportunities, natural resources and safe environment; promoting governance, peace and disaster risk reduction; and strengthening the ability of the poor and marginalized to exercise their rights and participate in the decisions that affect their lives.

CRDS Nepal works through both formal and informal collaboration at multiple levels: with local NGOs, CBOs, government agencies, communities, civil society groups, federations, networks and private sector. CRDS Nepal is currently working in partnership with community level local CBOs, different networks and a range of community groups. Partnership with local institutions is an important means of increasing the reach and sustainability of CRDS programs, while increasing the institutional capacity of CBOs. CRDS’s collaboration with government line agencies ensures that it’s programs complement local level plans and policies.

Today, CRDS Nepal operates in 41 VDCs of remote part of Darchula Districts & far western development region through 7 community development programs. Now It has expanded its working area throughout Nepal. National level programs are being coordinated by central office established in kathmandu.

It is one of the pioneering NGOs that have adopted the Participatory Approach in working with marginalized families and communities in delivering developmental programs in Darchula district of Nepal.
