Position: Marketing Supervisor (MS)

Responsible to: Agriculture Program Coordinator/District Coordinator

Duty Station: Pocket


 

Purpose of Position:

The MS will be responsible to support and facilitate the marketing and Value chain development (challenge fund activities) within the pocket, providing technical and marketing backstopping, advice to farmers, traders, private sector, and local people, to develop market and marketing of their commodities, facilitate to develop/establishing/strengthening market centres (MPC/hatbazar/CC) and facilitate/support challenge fund program. Ensure progress in line with the project work plan and targets and achieving expected outcomes and outputs of the PAHAL Project pocket level marketing of agriculture and value chain development program. S/he will work closely with the multi-disciplinary project team in district/pocket level. More specifically, s/he will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Managing the pocket level marketing and Value chain development (challenge fund) program:

  • Responsible for pocket level marketing and Value chain development (Challenge Fund) activities to be implemented in pocket level of the PAHAL project.

  • Develop relation and coordination with market and planning committee (MPC), traders, farmers, private sector (Agrovet, Cooperative), Community business facilitator and other related stakeholders.

  • Develop strong linkages and coordination with VDC/Municipalities and service centre level line agencies of the the assigned VDC to share program, create synergy and leveraging of fund.

  • Identify the private sector (Agro-vet/MPC/cooperative) for challenge fund program implementation.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly plan in line with DIP in consultation with agricultural officer, program coordinator, district coordinator and district/pocket staff.

  • Facilitate and support district coordinator/agriculture officer and community to integrate agricultural related activities in planning process of the assigned VDC.

  • Facilitate/support to community/market actor for formation and strengtheing of MPC and establishment of collection centre/hatbazar.

  • Facilitate/support to the market committee, traders and farmer for marketing management of product.

  • Facilitate and support agricultural officer and communities to make agreement with private sector to implement challenge fund (CF) activities.

  • Facilitate to CF implementer for selection of community business facilitator (CBF).

  • Facilitate and support to CBF and CF implementer to implement and monitoring of CF activities at community level.

  • Facilitate and support to develop capacity of CBF and market actor on Value Chain Development Approach, etc

  • Assuring marketing and value chain program activities -of pocket level as per DIP

  • Reporting to district office of pocket level accomplished activities as plan in DIP.

  • Facilitate and support to CF for MIT promotion, develop linkage with MIT supply chain.

  • Support and ensure to develop commercial pocket of high value crop and promotion of conservation agricultural best practices.

  • Support district coordinator/Agriculture officer/program coordinator LNGO and regional marketing program coordinator to implement, monitor of the program as per need.

  • Prepare monthly report, quarterly and annual report and submit to program coordinator/district coordinator or assigned by the program coordinator.

  • Facilitate public auditing is being implemented in each activity implementation.

  • Perform duties as assigned by program coordinator, district coordinator and other as per need.

Required qualification and experience:

  • SLC passed preferably Intermediate /Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) with adequate experience in marketing

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with community and coordination of all sub sector staff of pocket level.

  • Working knowledge in computer (MS word, excel and power point) will be an added advantage.

Community Rural Development Society – Nepal

Community Rural Development society-Nepal(CRDS-Nepal) founded in 1992, registered in district administration office Darchula one of the most remote district of Nepal to participate in community devlopment process as non profitable organization. At present, it is a consortium of 11 members. The early focus was on improving infrastructure in remote areas and agriculture extension activities as partner organization of District Agriculture Development Office. Today, its programs are wide ranging and promote equitable and sustainable livelihood in rural area of Nepal.   The programs include: improving people’s access to food, health, education, economic opportunities, natural resources and safe environment; promoting governance, peace and disaster risk reduction; and strengthening the ability of the poor and marginalized to exercise their rights and participate in the decisions that affect their lives.

CRDS Nepal works through both formal and informal collaboration at multiple levels: with local NGOs, CBOs, government agencies, communities, civil society groups, federations, networks and private sector. CRDS Nepal is currently working in partnership with community level local CBOs, different networks and a range of community groups. Partnership with local institutions is an important means of increasing the reach and sustainability of CRDS programs, while increasing the institutional capacity of CBOs. CRDS’s collaboration with government line agencies ensures that it’s programs complement local level plans and policies.

Today, CRDS Nepal operates in 41 VDCs of remote part of Darchula Districts & far western development region through 7 community development programs. Now It has expanded its working area throughout Nepal. National level programs are being coordinated by central office established in kathmandu.

It is one of the pioneering NGOs that have adopted the Participatory Approach in working with marginalized families and communities in delivering developmental programs in Darchula district of Nepal.
