Job Description

Pact, a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, is implementing a USAID­funded project, Sajhedari Bikaas, aimed at empowering local communities to direct their own development. Pact has an immediate need for highly competent Nepali citizen to fill the following position. The contract duration is up to one year.

Engineer Manager: 1 position (based in Charikot, Dolakha District)

The incumbent will serve as technical advisor for Sajhedari Bikaas' small-scale infrastructure projects in recovery districts. S/he will work closely with the Senior Field Director, Senior Regional Program Manager, and others to coordinate and provide technical guidance to the projects, and ensure compliance with contracted deliverables. S/he will also liaise closely with the project's consulting engineering firm. The Engineer Manager reports to the Senior Regional Program Manager.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary engineering technical expert on the project involving over 70 small scale infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate activitities with the Engineer Manager for Recovery Districts, Program staff and NGO partners
  • Monitor grantee activities to ensure best practices are followed and technical compliance with donor requirements is respected
  • Monitor and liaise with the project's consulting engineering firm
  • Produce written reports on activities and outcomes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Civil engineering degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working with local organizations and/or communities
  • Experience with USG (USAID preferred)-funded programs or other international donors
  • A sound understanding of rural development, good governance, and the GoN's planning processes
  • Experience in supporting and monitoring field-based programs
  • Excellent computer literacy in Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required
  • English and Nepali fluency required
  • Open to Nepali nationals only
